Writer's Block

Okay, so it's late and I'm tired and I can think of nothing to write, so I'll just post a bunch of pictures. Well, maybe just a little news...

We are well. Aria is, as you can see, growing and thriving and giving us tons of joy. So much has happened since the last post. I guess that's the way it goes when you go two and a half months between them...

Sometime around the middle of January, we decided to venture into the exciting land of solid food. In preparation, I went out and bought a high chair. I got it home and realized that it may be a bit too big...

So the tray goes aside for a while and we do without. As you can see by the sequence below, meals are fun and slow and very, very messy. Actually, about a week ago, we made the big move from finger to spoon. I don't have any pictures of that yet because it's hard to manage the bowl, the spoon, keeping her hands out of the food AND a camera, all at the same time.

By the way, Aria really likes cameras. Especially shiny, silver ones.

If you wanna see the real thing, I've posted some video taken by her fancy Uncle Riley. (Actually, I tried to post it three times and it didn't work. I'll try again soon. Sorry for the teaser.) He's busy, for those of you who don't know, being a TV personality, hosting The National Geographic Channel's new show to be titled something like "The Worlds Toughest Fixes" or "The Big Fix" or something like that. Look for it this summer. Here are a couple photos of the fancy man in action.

He promises not to forget about the little people.

Speaking of little, Mischa Opal Brown was born to Tara and Craig on January 8. She's lovely and beautiful and here are some pictures from our visit.

Aria in wide-eyed anticipation on the drive there...

...at least for a moment.

The proud moms with babies. Whose kid is whose, anyway?

Auntie Tara took this picture, which I love:

And here's my girl showing off her big girl sitting-up skills.

Shortly after our visit, we all had a big scare as little Mischa had unexpected heart surgery. She came through it like a champ and we all have new respect for the huge amount of fight/gumption/chutzpa packed into that little body and the amazing love and strength of her parents. We are also unspeakably grateful for the miracles of modern medicine. Here's the little wonder baby herself, healing and growing and modeling her seasonal attire.

Whew! What a perspective shift it is to witness this. Little Mischa, we're learning from you already.

Yikes, it has been a while since our last post, hasn't it. These next two were taken shortly after Christmas as Aria discovered the joys of the new toy she got from Grandpa.

Guess what she does with every new toy first?

We were (and are) very sad to have lost our sweet Coby. He was an amazingly smart, loving and sweet cat. He's featured here behind the clean post-bath baby.

Here's our little art lover. She gets tons of joy out of this painting by Mommy's old friend Brandon. She loves to stare at it and touch it and make joyful panting noises. She has good taste.

That's the news for now. Sorry for the lack of flow or wit, but I figured, after 2 and half months, I better hurry up and get this thing posted while I have a moment, late night fuzz brain or no. Thanks to you all for your patience.

No apologies--it's wonderful! LOVE all the pictures. My favorites are of Aria with her big wide-eyed looks, like she is totally excited about life. "What's new today?" Thanks for sharing all the news and pictures.
