5 Weeks

The family adventures continue. On Wednesday, we had a visit with Aria's doctor, who told us that she weighs 9 pounds, 5 ounces. That means that she gained 26 ounces in 22 days. Go Aria, go! She is seeming pretty huge to her Mommy, although everyone else still comments on how itty-bitty she is. It makes us very happy and proud to know that she's eating and growing like a champ.

To celebrate Aria's 4 week birthday, we began working on establishing good bottle habits. It's a bit of a struggle. Aria seems to think that there ain't nothin' like the real thing (baby). But we persist and she cooperates sometimes. Mommy looks forward to the freedom that the bottle (in close cooperation with Daddy) will offer. Here's a relatively successful bottle moment:

Aria's been enjoying a visit from her Uncle Ivan, all the way from Las Vegas. Sadly, he leaves today.

Uncle Ivan has discovered how bendy babies are. She looks so uncomfortable, but she's happy as can be.

Aria is sad to see her Uncle Ivan leave and she hopes that he will come back soon, as do the rest of us.

Uncle Ethan joined us for a few visits as well.

Aria has such handsome uncles!

And Nana came back again, after an absence of over a week. Aria forgave her quickly for being away so long. She can also see where the uncles get their good looks.

That's the news for now. We look forward to a visit from Mommy's father starting on Wednesday. (We have yet to figure out if he will be "Grandpa" or "PoPo" or "PaPa" or "Hey You.") He's coming all the way from Chicago! We can't wait.

7/7/07

How strange life is...

7/7/07 was the predicted day of Aria's grand entrance to this world, but instead, it's her 3 week birthday. We can't imagine not having had her with us for the past three weeks.

She is fabulous and healthy, practicing her special talents of eating, sleeping, pooping and growing. Nana says that Aria weighs 8 pounds now. Our next doctor's appointment is next week, so at that time I can make an official report. In any case, she's filling out and looking more and more like a baby.

We've been getting adventurous and taking outings of some sort nearly every day. She generally sleeps through them, but I cling to the belief that she's getting something out of the fresh air anyway. I know it's nice for me to get out of the house some.

Tara and Craig came to visit recently.

Look how good I am at sleeping, Aunt Tara! Aren't you impressed?

Look! I can also sleep with Nana,

And with my daddy,

And in my car seat all dressed for an outing,

And in my car seat all dressed for bed,

I'm an expert eater, too!

Here are my little, bitty feet.

And here's my little, bitty fist.
Sometimes I enjoy being awake, too, like here on Nana's lap,

Or here being changed,

Or here trying on my new hat from Uncle Riley and his mother Leslie.

That's all for now. Until the next report, be well. To all you readers of the blog , feel free to leave comments. We like to read them.
